I am looking for ways of teaching that are less theory and more about how to really speak english, but at the same time not banal and ridiculous as language books can be. Please, only answers from experience.
As it obviously wasn’t clear, from my question – I am a british, native-english speaker.
I have learned to speak several languages myself, through living in different countries, and pretty much teaching myself. I have attended language classes that haven’t helped me, and some that have.
I am educated and am a teacher.
In asking my question here and not on the ESOL website, because I am wanting to expand my knowledge of what is available to as teaching tool, from people who have taught or learned english as a foreign or second language, in order for me to better serve my students.
That is why I ask for answers from experience.
Please no answers laden with chips on shoulders or axes to grind.

I’m really interested in studying biomedical science at uni and would just lile to know if anyone knows any good books to either introduce me to the topic or discuss topics about it and so on? Occasionally, I try to think that maybe my hatred for Rowling is blighting me to some wonderful literature experiences. Then I pick up a book and quickly realise that, despite what anyone says, they are not brilliantly written and I cannot help but feel that they are at essence children’s books. Since the Harry Potter books are seemingly something the world and his dog have read, can you explain what exactly is so great about JK Rowling’s novels? I was reading some history books on the occupation of India and the mid-east by the British. i can imagine at the time we were saying it was justified and we morally needed to teach Indian and Asian people how to be civilised and live in a democratic society. Presently history paints a bad view of us British, I was wondering will the same happen to the Americans? I’ve read Jeaniene Frost’s and Charlaine Harris’s already. I’m trying to buy some books for my friend before she goes to France and I really want to buy her the Harry Potter books in French. But what is the difference between the Folio Junior and regular versions? Incoming search terms:My niece enjoys reading Enid Blyton but I’d like to get her some more modern authors. She has asked specifically for mystery books. have heard of Robert hands books, but where else can you find good interpretations for different transits by planets? and are there any good websites, besides cafe astrolgy website which have these? how good are they in comparison? please describe and explain. |
